Powder
Steels manufactured with the powder metallurgy method have excellent toughness and wear resistance and all their mechanical properties are also homogeneous in all respects. Their measures change very slightly after thermal treatment. They are easy to machine. Steels manufactured with the 3rd-generation powder metallurgy method have a clean micro-structure free of non-metallic inclusions. They thus have high chipping and fracture resistance. Their wear resistance is also very high as they can reach very high toughness values. Powder metallurgy steels are the best choice to maximize tool performance in very special applications.
